The Ennis harriers traveled across Ellis County to open their season with the Waxahachie Woodhouse Invitational held at Lake View Camp in Maypearl on Saturday.

The Varsity Girls team finished 11th out of 13 complete teams with a score of 312 points.  Leading the way Senior Gisela Sandoval in 40th (22:35), followed by seniors Kayta Guzman in 57th (23:51) and Alison Andrade in 59th (23:58).  Junior Jennifer Zuniga finished 79th (25:38) with freshman newcomer Lauren Hendriks in 79th (25:58).  Sophomore Kenna Hoffer 80th (26:15) and Adriana Cabrera 87th in 29:05.

The Varsity Boys team finished 10th out of 15 complete teams with a score of 233 points.IMG_2820

Leading the way was Sophomore Stoney Duke finishing 16th clocking the fourth fast time ever for an Ennis Lion sophomore in 16:56.  Seniors Ulises Herrera finished 32nd in 17:34, Alan Herndnadez 46th in 17:59, Jose Loera 67th in 18:50.  Freshman David Loera finished 72nd in 19:02, Junior Issac Perez in 76th with 19:13 and freshman Felix Gamino in 80th with 19:27.

The Junior Varsity girls finished 7th with 207 points.  Abigail Ornelas finished 27th in 27:17 with Aline Garcia right behind here in 28th with 27:18 and right behind her was Leslie Jacquez in 39th with at time of 27:31.  Sandra Rico finished in 46th in 30:23, Monica Guerrero in 47th with 30:33.  Ja’yla Pace finished in 52nd with 31:26, with Deisy Diaz in 54th with 31:58 and Zitlaly Garcia in 56th with 33:15.

The Junior Varsity boys were incomplete with only four runners competing.  Anthony Martinez led the way with a time of 20:12 in 56th place.  Daniel Melott finished in 63rd with a time of 20:46.  Chris Hernandez finished in 21:09 for a 73rd place finish and rounding out the team Christian Aguinaga in 22:39 and 102nd.

Next up for the Lions is the DBU Patriots Invitational held in Mansfield, next Saturday.
