Saturday’s game against Mansfield Lake Ridge was a heartbreaker for Ennis Lions JV, as they lost the lead late in an 8-4 defeat. The game was tied at four with Mansfield Lake Ridge batting in the bottom of the fifth when Davis hit a solo homer.

Mansfield Lake Ridge fired up the offense in the first inning, when Ashley doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

In the top of the fourth inning, Ennis Lions JV tied things up at four. Chance Askew singled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs.

After Ennis Lions JV scored one run in the top of the third, Mansfield Lake Ridge answered with one of their own. Ennis Lions JV scored when Payton Chapman hit a solo homer. Mansfield Lake Ridge then answered when Acker grounded out, scoring one run.

Ennis Lions JV scored three runs in the fourth inning. The offensive onslaught by Ennis Lions JV was led by Nick Novy and Askew, all driving in runs in the frame.

Berry led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Mansfield Lake Ridge. He went five and two-thirds innings, allowing four runs on seven hits and striking out seven.

Askew led things off on the hill for Ennis Lions JV. He surrendered three runs on two hits over two-thirds of an inning, striking out three. Eric Stanley and Jerimiah Sanchez entered the game as relief, throwing three and a third innings and one inning respectively.

Ennis Lions JV smacked one home run on the day. Chapman had a dinger in the third inning.

Stanley, Drew Pierce, Novy, Colton Daniell, Colton White, Askew, and Chapman each collected one hit to lead Ennis Lions JV. Ennis Lions JV was sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Novy had the most chances in the field with seven.

Mansfield Lake Ridge saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Acker, Ashley, and Berry each had multiple hits for Mansfield Lake Ridge. Mansfield Lake Ridge was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Davis made the most plays with nine.
