Ennis Lions JV stayed in it until the end, but Midlothian pulled away late in a 3-1 victory on Monday.

The game was tied at one with Midlothian batting in the top of the sixth when Wesnwkski doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Midlothian pitchers struck out six, while Ennis Lions JV sat down five.

In the second inning, Midlothian got their offense started. Ty Campbell hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Ennis Lions JV tied things up at one. Chance Askew hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Johnson led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Midlothian. He allowed three hits and one run over seven innings, striking out six.

Payton Chapman led things off on the hill for Ennis Lions JV. He allowed five hits and two runs over five and a third innings, striking out four. Kaden Crow threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen.

Nick Novy went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Ennis Lions JV in hits.
